How it works
Design Study
The Design Study is a great option for someone still on the fence about their remodel. Once we meet and discuss what needs/desires you may have, we then get some basic measurements and give you some layout options in the form of 3d renderings and floor plans. This isn’t a fully realized plan, but it’s enough to give you an idea of what’s possible as well as a general idea of construction cost. This will allow you to make an informed decision on whether you want to move forward with renovations.
For those with a clearer idea of what they want to do, a similar path is taken, but all dimensions are taken from the start.
Planning & Design Phase
If you choose to move forward, we get the remainder of dimensions (electrical, HVAC, windows, doors, etc.) so that we can build the permit and pricing sets. We also start filling in the schedules in this phase and have budget amounts for items needed, even if we don’t have them chosen yet.
The goal during this phase is to get a solid plan in place, along with a general idea of fixture cost in order to get permits and accurate bids from contractors. While they put their bids together (and sometimes into the build phase), we firm up our decisions through 3D renderings and Room Boards.
Don’t be tempted to rush this phase; We have rescued enough projects to know that the fastest total timeline starts with a fleshed out plan, because anything that’s not in the plan is not included in your contract with the builder, which could lead to delays, redos, and possible pauses during construction.
We have found that BFD pays for itself by saving time and money with a well thought out plan.
Build Phase
Time to hand off our build package to the general contractor for purchasing and implementation, but we are only a call or email away when you need us. We can continue to work with you as needed by you on timelines, problems that pop up, and making sure everyone is on the same page.
